This week-end our city celebrates the anniversary of the oldest city's museum complex "The Historic Boulevard"

Now the Historic Boulevard is one of the biggest parks in the city and a popular place for rest and pastime among citizens and tourists. But in the beginning of the history of Sevastopol at the place of Boulevard was built the defense line of Russian army against the united armies of Great Britain and France during the Crimean campaign 1853-1856. At these hills stand three bastions, which protected the main strategic points of the city? The strong fights of the Russian defenders against the union armies took part here 2 centuries ago.

At the memory of those events was created a memorial complex The Historic Boulevard. The central point of the complex is The Panorama - great picture (14 m x 115m) of one day in Sevastopol during the first heroic defense of the city in 1854, also on the park territory there are open-air exposition of ancient cannons, anchors and renovated defending bastions.

The first Sunday of June every year The Historical Boulevard celebrates its anniversary. This is a very popular event both for newcomers and for local. Bright vivid show of bass-bands, music groups, different nationalities, that lives in our multinational city. Passing by the Boulevard you can make picture with the colorful Greek, taste crispy Azerbaijan cakes, sing and dance together with Kazak chorus, buy some cute handmade works… But the main event of this day is the performance of the historic clubs of historic reconstruction. It starts from the common parade at the main city circle: on the main street march together Kazaks and Turkish janissaries, Russian soldiers of the Crimean war and World War II, English and French warriors, medieval knits and crusaders. All costumes and arming are unique, made in a strict accordance with the documents by the hands of re-constructors.

After the parade and some minutes of making photo with these "time-travelers" the next show starts. It is a play of the episode from the Sevastopol's defense during the Crimean war.  In the gully down the Historical Boulevard united forces of Great Britain, France and Turkey starts an operation of seizure of some defending positions. A quiet sortie was unsuccessful: the vanguard was discovered by the Russian soldiers on watch. Sizes came to the open confrontation. Cannons firing the enemy camps, soldiers reply with the single shots. Smoke flies over the gully, cannonade strikes the years. Soldiers go into hand-to-hand fighting. Horses neighing, cannons and guns produce the mighty roar, men's figures are lying in the dry grass - everything looks so real! But minutes later, when the announcer says "the end", all "dead" will stands up, shake hands to their enemies and all together came to the excited spectators.

It is a very nice and interesting kind of military operation!
