Congratulations to everybody!

 Today on the July 29^th Sevastopol celebrates the double holiday: Holiday of the Ukrainian Fleet and holiday of the Russian Navy.

The city of Sevastopol is a naval city from its foundation, it was a hero naval base at the World War II and in the USSR period; now it is a base for two national Navies – Russian and Ukrainian one. Thus the Fleet Day here is almost equal to the city birthday and we celebrate it with a proper range and enthusiasm. How is invited to the fest – everybody from local citizens to visitors from all parts of the Ukraine and from abroad. Tickets to Sevastopol for this day are usually bought up weeks before.

And now this day is came. Childish memories: ‘Will we go to see the Neptune’s Holiday?’ Sure we will! And even terrible July heat (+35C) couldn’t prevent it.

The celebrations began during the week. Streets are covered with bright slogans and flags; delegations brought flowers to the memorial places; concerts and official celebrations are being held at the Lunacharsky Drama Theatre and at the House of Navy officers. But the main event is a naval fest at the main Sevastopol bay will be on Sunday morning.

This show is worth a long expectation at the stands or at the see-points at the Cape Khrustalny. It is starts with the Ritual of making the colors: state flags of Russia and Ukraine and naval ensigns are rising at the naval ships, formed in a line at Sevastopol Bay. Next in our program: review of the main naval forces and boat with the members of historical clubs; Marines landing and moorage attack with the hand-to hand combat; destroying of “enemy’s” mines; sea battle with the “invaders”. Show of the rescue firefighting ships “Fountains over the Water” looks very spectacular (and also refreshes the participants and spectators with the water dust). And for sure the Neptune will visit this sea fest: the Sea Lord with its retinue will coming in person at the moorage, transformed today at the main stage. And like in the tale of A. S. Pushkin 33 heroes will rise up from the sea: the navy divers came from the sea depth and salute to the Neptune and all spectators.

The sea fest is finishing, but till the end of this long summer day there are a lot of events in the center of the city. The Black Sea Fleet Museum is open for free visitations, at the territory of Sevastopol Port opened an exhibition of modern weapons and military equipment, and the real navy ships are open for all visitors! Could you imagine the emotions of boys?! To visit a real missile carrying ship!!!

In the meantime at the Nakhimov square is mounting a temporary stage: in the evening here the music show will take place. And the festival will finishes with a big salute, fireworks and colored fountains in the middle of Sevastopol bay.
